Short, because there's
no reason not to be.
These are the terms for the Coda Photos network. Plain language, on purpose: they should sound like us, not like a law firm. Agreeing happens when you join the roster via the signup form.
What signing up means
You're joining our photographer database. No exclusivity, and no obligation: signing up doesn't guarantee work, and being introduced doesn't oblige you to accept anything. Leave whenever you want, one email to enquiries@coda.photos and we remove you.
Introductions
When a gig fits your city, scene, and rates, we introduce you to the client. If Coda charges a fee or commission on a gig, you see it up front, before you accept: gross and net, no surprises after the fact. Our name rides along on every introduction, so when you accept a gig: show up, deliver, and communicate. If plans change, tell the client and us early.
Your work stays yours
Full ownership of everything you shoot, always. We never take your copyright, and every photo of yours that appears anywhere near Coda carries your byline. This is the one term we care about most.
Credit and sharing
If a gig came through a Coda introduction, two things apply. First, when you post work from that gig, tag or credit Coda (@codaphotos), so the network that got you the gig grows and can keep getting you gigs. Second, we may share a selection of that work on Coda's channels, always with your byline, and only when the client's agreement allows it. If the client says no, nothing gets shared.
Paid and unpaid work
Paid work is the default. Unpaid gigs (editorial coverage, emerging artists without a budget yet) only reach you if you've opted in, and we don't forward unpaid work for artists who can afford to pay. If there's budget, photographers get paid.
TREACLE contributions
Contributing to TREACLE, our music editorial, is optional and separate from gigs. Contributions are unpaid for now, we're upfront about that. You keep full ownership of what you submit; you give TREACLE permission to publish it with your byline and a link back to your portfolio. If you ever want a contribution taken down, ask and we'll remove it.
Your details
We store what you gave us in the signup form (name, email, city, genres, gear, travel radius, rates, preferences) and use it for one thing: matching you to work and to TREACLE. We don't sell it, we don't share it with anyone except a client we're introducing you to, and we delete it when you leave the network. Questions about your data: enquiries@coda.photos.
Changes
If we change these terms, we'll email everyone in the network before the change takes effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can leave (see 01).
